Hair of the Dog

Hair of the Dog is a small and blossoming business that hand spins custom yarns from dog, sheep and alpaca fibers. Nancy makes really beautiful yarns and products that are a cool way to cherish a beloved pet... and no, the yarn and knitted items don't smell like dog!

I've been helping her update the logo and the look of her printed collateral. These are a couple of the postcards that she'll be printing:

Eventually she'll update the website too, but right now she's concentrating on business cards, hang tags, post cards and skein bands so that all her yarns and products will reflect the personality of her business. Also on the list of projects are a couple pieces of work cabinetry - including a desk shaped like her Afghan hound, Chili. I can't wait to design and build it!

Work

Today I took my camera to work and snapped a couple pictures of the cabinets we're building. This picture shows my bench (with the drill, padded camera bag and clamps on top) and the kitchen island I'm working on. The drawers on the left side, and the two doors from the middle section have been removed so I can attach the back of the island. On the right is a spot for the dishwasher to be installed. Eventually there will be a top made with an overhang on the back side for a breakfast bar and stools.Matt just completed this hutch, which is part of the same kitchen. The finished pieces will all be painted white. Some of the panels in these cabinets were primed before they were assembled, to make final finishing easier. The cabinet on the cart with four doors is another piece I've worked on. Next to it is a stack of drawer boxes that Brian is making for a kitchen that is also being built. Behind the drawers is a lovely cherry hutch that he built that will be installed in the shop's show room.

BBC News: Trunk Cam

How could you not be HOOKED into reading more after seeing this picture? Elephants with video cameras? I was going to write a post-Easter blurb... then I read this on BBC News and was compelled to share.

Beep... Beep... Beep... NH to Jason... calling Jason...

... Jason? Come in Jason.

You were in NH and you no call-y? Did you buy a motorcycle?

If you had stopped by and fixed Michael's computer, you would have been rewarded with blueberry pancakes and this...

D'OH!

Sorry about the hood vent noise, I'm a newbie with the video clip stuff.

Punk's on Drugs...

and so are Leo and Peanut.

I gave the cats mousies dipped in catnip this morning, and put some fresh stuff in the Fat Cat Boogie Mat. Like usual, Peanut took her toy away from where the boys were, to enjoy her fix in private. After the boy cats stopped writhing and drooling with their mice, they fought over the Boogie Mat then got squirrely and battled hard. While they were kick boxing, Peanut got her munchies on, then slunk off for a nap. Sorry there aren't any high speed action photos, they didn't come out.
Educate your cats... drugs lead to violence.
Yay cat violence! Woo Hoo!

Cactus Calendar

Is there such a thing? Because my Christmas cactus obviously needs one. It bloomed just before Thanksgiving and got a couple buds (that didn't open) right around Christmas... and hello?
Earth to Cactus: it's March, you're supposed to be on vacation, Honey.
Could it be peer pressure because the moth orchid and both African violets are in flower?
It's brilliant and lovely, even if it is confused.
