Work

Today I took my camera to work and snapped a couple pictures of the cabinets we're building. This picture shows my bench (with the drill, padded camera bag and clamps on top) and the kitchen island I'm working on. The drawers on the left side, and the two doors from the middle section have been removed so I can attach the back of the island. On the right is a spot for the dishwasher to be installed. Eventually there will be a top made with an overhang on the back side for a breakfast bar and stools.Matt just completed this hutch, which is part of the same kitchen. The finished pieces will all be painted white. Some of the panels in these cabinets were primed before they were assembled, to make final finishing easier. The cabinet on the cart with four doors is another piece I've worked on. Next to it is a stack of drawer boxes that Brian is making for a kitchen that is also being built. Behind the drawers is a lovely cherry hutch that he built that will be installed in the shop's show room.

Well... they were all busy posing nude for the 2009 Maine's Studly Cabinetmakers calendar. (Hot New England Wood Workers in Nothing but their Boots.) You can purchase all that Maine-y beefcake for $9.95 at Barnes & NoBull.

What do you woodworkers have against RAW Linseed Oil? It's impossible to find nowadays. I blame you.

Ummm... I've never used it, so I can't be blamed for that one. Blame finishers. It's all their fault.

Persnaps it's cause rags soaked in it will combust spontaneously so they don't want it in the hands of the general public...you know who you are!

I have NO IDEA what you're talking about. Unless you're implying I SHOULDN'T be leaving my propane torch lit while I finish my bokken... Preposterous and unfounded in my opinion. You've been reading books haven't you? All fact, no heart!

Oh well, have to order teak oil online anyways. Linseed oil is for scrubs =D
