News from Top Hat Stable

Who doesn't love a story with a happy ending? I received this email titled: "Guess what happened this weekend?" from Kristin, the Owner/Chief Stall Mucker of Top Hat Stable.
Just when you think an 'old' mare can't surprise anyone anymore...
This little filly was an unexpected delight out of a mare who was rescued last summer. Mom and baby are doing well (baby needed some plasma transfusions -$$$$$- ouch!) but both are bright eyed and very bushy tailed! The irony is, the mare was passed around from owner to owner because she couldn't carry a foal to term! The joke is on them!
That's gotta put a smile on your face.

What's Up at Work

Right now we're working on cabinetry for a new showroom that Jewett Farms & Co. will be opening in Newburyport, MA. Once we've completed some pieces, I'll post pictures. These photos are of the project we finished the week before last.

Matt built these pieces: in front is a wardrobe and behind that is storage for a mud room.I built these pieces: a built-in linen cabinet with open, adjustable shelvesand a built-in bathroom vanity with frame and panel doors and drawer fronts. All our drawers are made from maple and have sturdy box joints. This vanity has beaded door and drawer openings.

Ha! Erica Sent this Picture...

She was in Pennsylvania last Nov./Dec. and visited the giant Sturgis Pretzel too! Perhaps our attraction to tourist kitsch is genetic?

Nature's Castles at Longwood Gardens

Our main purpose for visiting the Keystone State was to visit Nature's Castles at Longwood Gardens. What better way to celebrate turing 40 than to feel like a kid in a tree house?

The Birdhouse spirals around a tree and puts you three stories up into the forest canopy.

The Spring House

Last weekend Michael took me to Pennsylvania for my birthday. We stayed at the Old Stone Guesthouse in the little Spring House and it was lovely -- right out of a story book.

A Little Medical Humor for Erica

This is today's Speed Bump by Dave Coverly...So, Student Doctor Zulueta, while you're working your surgery rotation watch out for any strong, silent, sneaky "Mr. Virulent-MRSA-Type-of-Studs." They're trying to reproduce!
